Workforce Development Specialist I – Job Overview

About the Role

First Solar is looking for a Workforce Development Specialist I to join their team in Trinity Alabama. This is an entry level position built for someone who genuinely loves teaching and helping people grow. The role sits inside a team responsible for recruiting training and developing production operations and maintenance associates.

You will work closely with production leadership and cross functional teams to build training content that actually makes a difference on the floor. This is an on-site position and not available for remote work.

What You Will Actually Be Doing

This role is not just paperwork and slides. You will be hands-on in shaping how new associates learn their jobs from day one.

Your everyday responsibilities will include:

• Leading new hire onboarding sessions
• Gathering data and putting together clear reports
• Working with different teams to figure out where training gaps exist
• Building training material that covers safety quality technical skills problem solving and leadership
• Creating training content in multiple formats including video and printed guides
• Keeping training documents updated and organized on the production floor
• Growing your own skills in instructional design on-the-job training methods video production and online training tools like SCORM
• Supporting trainers supervisors and subject matter experts to confirm training is complete and effective

You won’t have anyone reporting directly to you in this role. It’s an individual contributor position which means your growth here comes from mastering your craft rather than managing a team.

Physical Requirements

Since this job involves regular time on the production floor here’s what you should expect physically:

One important note — associates on the production floor may be asked to wear a respirator at any time. Being able to wear one is a condition of employment which generally means little to no facial hair.

For office based interactions all associates need to be able to communicate face to face and over the phone with or without reasonable accommodation.
